About Sally Stap information
Who is Sally Stap? I am a writer and artist who is open and real about life, faith, and the ongoing process of recovery
I am a computer scientist who now writes about right-brained things. Yea, really. . . And I paint with beeswax (Encaustic)
After a long Information Technology career, I was diagnosed with an Acoustic Neuroma brain tumor at age fifty-one. Following brain surgery I turned to writing as an outlet to capture my experience. I learned that writing helped me express what I was feeling both physically and emotionally.
The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, nor to worry about the future, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.
My right brain, subservient to my left brain throughout my career, now regularly finds a voice through writing as I strive to interpret emotions and experiences through words. I'm a member of Kalamazoo Christian Writer's, Wordweavers, and Faithwriters.com.
I created a website www.smilingagainbook.com to share insights from my experience beyond what was capture in my book Smiling Again: Coming Back To Life And Faith After Brain Surgery. I have also contributed to several analogies including: The Transformation Project: A Word Weavers Anthology by West Michigan Word Weavers, Imagine This: An Art Prize Anthology by Cascade Writer's Group.
I also blog at www.sallystap.com about NON-brain tumor stuff.
And I paint and now have an Etsy shop - https://www.etsy.com/your/shops/KazooArtist
